The Christie Hospital Gilling Dod Category: Healthcare — Contractor: Vinci Construction — Year of completion: 2020 Project Value: 6m Home / Projects / Healthcare / The Christie Hospital This facility was originally planned to be an OAU. However, when Covid19 cases escalated, it was crucial that Covid19 patients were segregated whilst still caring for patients within the Cancer Centre. With limited space for isolation wards, the solution was to utilise the dedicated OAU space as an isolation unit for the Trusts Covid response, whilst future proofing the OAU for when the Covid facility is not needed. The project was handed over in only 35 days with 24-hour working across 12-hour shifts, turning this fully functioning hospital ward into a facility to meet the needs of the pandemic. Working with our project partners Gilling Dod architects and contractor IHP, WorkSpace Design supplied the FF&E for this 26 bed facility with the project completed in only 5 weeks. This was only possible through the dedication and collaborative working by all parties involved.
